Reclaim Detroit began in 2011 as a social enterprise incubated by the non-profit EcoWorks to create innovative and sustainable solutions to blight in Detroit. Our goal is to deconstruct as many as 10% of the houses pending demolition, and use that manual process to create local jobs and save precious materials from our past.
Over 4 years Reclaim Detroit has proven deconstruction can play a powerful role in the city's blight removal strategy. Reclaim Detroit is creating more jobs for local people, saving precious materials from the landfill, and inspiring countless woodworkers, designers and entrepreneurs to use materials from our past to reinvent Detroit. We continue to advocate for more deconstruction and expand our impact throughout Detroit.
